"Lady Liberty" is Nancy's own design and the original
design was created as a Christmas ornament for the White
House Christmas tree. This theorem appeared in the White
House Blue Room.
Nancy and the other artists were invited by Mrs. Clinton
to see their work on the Blue Room Christmas tree.
This
theorem is painted on cotton velveteen with the use of stencils.
Lady
Liberty
This
theorem is based on and interpreted from Edward Savage’s
steel engraving titled “Liberty in the Form of the
Goddess of Youth Giving Support to the Bald Eagle”.
This engraving was very popular and copied in many mediums.
My painting has the unifying factor of Miss Liberty in the
form of a goddess with the eagle, flag, and the Liberty
cap on top of the flag against the Old World symbols of
tyranny - the key to the Bastille, broken chain and the
star of the Order of the Garter.
